Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was understandably buzzing after his side's 5-1 rout of Real Sociedad, calling the first-half display "perfect" and reserving special praise for Xabi Alonso and Cristiano Ronaldo.
"I think it was a perfect first half from the team because they played really well, at a high tempo and very effectively. They did a good job of mixing up short and long passing. It was a great all-round performance", he stated.
Xabi Alonso and Cristiano Ronaldo were undoubtedly the catalysts behind a first-half blitz that saw 'Los Blancos' race into a 4-0 lead.
"Xabi Alonso has the experience and talent to play the way we want to. He's a step ahead with the way he reads the game. He's a very important player for us".
"Cristiano is a different class. His consistency and poise in front of goal are incredible. It's hard to find the right words to describe him", he added.
This time around Ancelotti refused to criticise his team for its dip after the break. "The tempo dropped in the second half. That's normal when you're 4-0 up. We found it more difficult, but the team did well defensively".
The Italian also hailed the efforts of Alonso's partners in crime in the middle of the park, Germany's Sami Khedira and Croatia's Luka Modric.
"Khedira is a Real Madrid player and has the ability to play for this team. You know exactly what you're getting with him. He helps the team and I think all three central midfielders played really well and worked great together", Ancelotti stated.
